TRAINING OFFICER CERTIFICATE (TOC )

Before becoming a Trainer in specific awards, you are required to hold the Trainer Skill Set known as Training Officer Certificate (TOC) in lifesaving. This is the theory and preliminary practical training, before helping to deliver a course as a Trainee Trainer under supervision.

To become a Trainer of an award you are required to hold the base award and have at least 12 months experience in patrolling with the award, eg gain BM at 15 years, help with water safety the following season and come back after turning 17 years to become a trainer Trainer.

We are always keen to get club members involved in training. It's a lot of fun, great for personal development and a great way to support the community. Have a chat with us: training@janjucsurfclub.com.au or tam@janjucsurfclub.com.au

This award requires Club Endorsement.

ASSESSORS AND FACILITATORS

The Health Unit and TOC awards are now the only accredited (Unit of Competency) awards in Victoria, for which advanced Assessor Skill Set and Certificate IV Training and Assessment are required to become an Assessor and Facilitator respectfully. These Units of Competency courses are available externally via free TAFE.

For the remainder of the lifesaving awards the TOC is the basis and members work through the pathways to become an Assessor then Facilitator of awards over time.

Any questions please contact the Training and Assessment Manager tam@janjucsurfclub.com.au
